WTF Skunk 2 crap.
Just out of curiosity, have you pulled the valve cover and the cam, and looked for signs of a seized cam journal? That can snap a cam or cam gear off in a second. The fact that it happened on startup could point to it seizing, and that there was possibly just enough oil or thermal expansion to keep it going.
ok...help me figure this out, you are this master mechanic thats so inclined and builds cars, yet haves francisco adjust your valves. says the word tool alot but doesn't own one. me follow you around?...i never paid attention to your screen name until you put negative comments on my forsale thread and countless other peoples thread. how bout you follow me to 7 11 for coffee, oh wait your car doesn't work. nevermind.

EDIT:
Just got word back from Brian, although I do not have my orignal receipt he said hes going to try to help me out, however this is prediction on the situation.
"Golden Eagle cam gears are thicker than a factory camgear, which means when you install them with the factory cam gear bolt, you do not get sufficient thread engagement in the meat of the camshaft. The majority of the thread engagement will be in the snout, which can cause the snout to break"

The bolt has nothing at all to do with it,the cam gear sits flush with the cam.
Yes aftermarket cam gears are thicker, but that doesnt matter since the cam gears slides on the cam.
Hard to explain but if you take both a stock cam gear and aftermarket one you will see what im talking about.

Do you have any idea what you are debating about, clearly no.
I said that aftermarket cam gears do not require a longer bolt. They sit just as flush as the factory one. Once my batteries are charged I will show you.

I don't really give a fuck if you think I know what I'm talking about, I just forgot the specifics of how Honda cam sprockets mount. I agree that they mount like you said, and I had forgotten. Maybe with enough pulling and tugging your head will pop out of your ass and you will realize what I was saying..
Many cams have a seat on them, or some other mounting configuration, and the cam sprocket doesn't just slide onto a keyed shaft and fit flush with the bolt seating face like Honda cams. My knowledge goes beyond just one engine or just one brand. I'm not apologizing for that.
