Default Re: what does this mean?

NO is oxides of nitrogen (ppm = parts per million, the measurement for it), usually from too high combustion temperatures. Could be a clogged EGR passage (if equipped) or a bad cat converter.

If it has EGR, take it off and see if the passageway in the head (or intake manifold, where ever it's attached) is clogged with carbon (hard, black stuff). If it is, clean it out. Make sure not to get any into the engine. You can also try an engine decarbon. We use stuff called Top Engine Cleaner (good shit) and suck it in through a vacuum hose at about 1500-2000rpm. It'll clean most of the carbon and build up out of the head and combustion chambers. If it's a bad cat, that'll just have to be replaced.
