Default VW max boost?

i have a 96 jetta gl with a rebuilt motor and minor port work, it also has a t3 60trim turbo setup. i currently have it set at 5 psi, i was just wonderin what would be a safe higher setting?

This is a 2.0 liter I'm assuming. I've seen over 20psi with proper fuel and ignition timing.

20psi on stock internals? I think that would be pushing it, thats like adding close to 200hp. Correct me if I'm wrong but i don't think it could run that much on the stock bottom end, valve train, etc..

maybe 15psi with chip tuning and a fmu. with engine management yes it can be done on stock internals. vw rods are strong

I don't think I would recomend a stock aba motor to run more then 14-15psi. Esspecially without standalone and dyno time

That's what I was going to say..

I'd play it safe and take it no further than 8-11psi... and definitely keep an eye on everything so that you can catch any symptoms of problems before it becomes a serious issue.
