Well I have a volt gauge hooked up, and my car will start up fine and then when warms up, the voltage will sometimes drop down to 12 and car will idle fine at 700 rpm and then I start to drive and the voltage runs back to 14. My guess would be that the alternator is slowly dying. Hit me up with any help or ideas of what to do......funds a little short to buy a new alternator....thanks shawn.....

 

its probably your alt. but make sure your belt is tight.

 

belt has a very good tension on it....so I am gonna go with the alternator.....I might find one on ebay or something. Thanks...

if your voltage is fluctuating than its probably your alt going bad.

 

Why don't you check the voltage right at the alternator using a multimeter? Never trust an aftermarket voltage gauge unless you can verify the truth of what it's telling you. I've seen some pretty ghetto gauge installations so I don't trust the gauge reading until I can trust the gauge install.

Check your voltage with a multimeter under the hood and then see if you actually have a problem.
