Where did he say anything about top end? A t25 flows enough cfm to support 200hp.

For the rest of you, a big 16g will not spool up in the range he wants it. This is a low compression 1.6L engine.
It's 14b by the way and I don't think that would spool up between 2.5-3 either. Not to mention both of those are overkill for what he wants.

Next.

if ur only looking to go for 200hp a ford IHI turbo (found on late-model thunderbird turbo coupes... and ALL over eBay) would suit your application well IMO.

it's what i got on my car now and it spools rather quickly. the max psi rating is 18psi (anything over that is non efficient) but on the 2.3L motor it makes 190hp stock (at 10psi).

just another suggestion

Very nicely done heat.

I have to agree with heat and fatboyee.. a t3, maybe not the .63 exhuast.. maybe the .48... and the IHI which I have one if you would like to take a look.. are both excellent.. and dont fall off on the top end... the IHI uses the garret manifold

because w/ the build he's doing....he's going to be looking for MORE than 200hp. im looking for 200hp on my STOCK block. if he's going through the trouble of putting rods/pistons in that block, im going to make sure he hits at least 250.

also, this is a honda heat. hondas would rather flow a lot of air at low boost....because they cant take the heat or detonaton like your 4g63 can. think open water jacket and very weak sleeves. better to go w/ a turbo on the slightly larger side that'll push a little more CFM at a lower boost than one that will just support the hp goals he's looking for.

Obviously you failed to read the question and answer session at the beginning where he listed his HP goal as "200ish"

4) i have walsbro fuel pump, DSM 450cc injetors, y8 intake mani, im almost to the point where i have enough for pistons and rods, i found that LS rods were a reliably cheap rod choice, and im going with JE pistons... ive also got cai, headers, blah blah the simple bolt on crap.
5) im not gonna spend a fortune, but im not gonne buy cheap shit either... for the turbo, anything equal to or lesser then 200

i dont wanna break any world records, i just wanna run mid to low 13's if possible..

i havent read anything below what anyone said here but with those specs i would recomend this

"T3 Super 60"

its a t3 turbine in either a .63 or a .82 a/r turbine housing mated to a SUPER 60 T3 compressor wheel. its flow capability is 350crank hp or about 250-300 at high boost (20+psi)

for 12psi you should be making about 220hp or so. and it will spool like a factory turbo car so low end power/torque will be quite abundant.

www.cheapturbo.com sells em for 525$ i think and are internally wastegated further helping cost cutting

hmmmmm, now im flooded with even more options, i appreciate your help. I think what was with mikes reasoning was that if im going to be spending the money to be making the engine stronger, why not use it to its full potential... and by what your saying heat, that super 60 will spool like a factory turbo car... which sounds pretty promising.. im gonna see what i can do. 525 is gonna be pricey. im due for a review at work which = raise... so if its big enough maybe ill splurge. im definately going with a T3 I know that..

if 525$ is pricy. GET OUT OF THIS FUCKING IDEA THAT YOU WANT TO TURBO YOUR CAR!!!!!!!! this is meant with the upmost of prejudice.

keep you internals stock and spend more where you need to, in fuel and ignition controls to manage that turbo you plan to bolt on.

people spend 3500$ for bolt on turbo kits, only to spend another 3,000 making those kits "right" where they produce good power.

i think you read me wrong greaser...525 is pricey on a high school budget, but i can do it.. dont tell me to get it out of my head because i will turbo this car, it will get done, and it will get done RIGHT. no playing around.

that stupid large T3 sounds pretty sweet... im gonna run with that. i'd like to see the compressor map if anyone knows where i could find it, could they point me in the right direction please. thank you

Well with stock internals and the d16 engine. I would stay with a .48 and .60 a/r that will give you a fast spool up and also the redline is low. A huge turbo will have lots of lag and you want a fast spooling turbo especially for a sohc. I have a 8200 redline, so it's okay on my car. I have the super t3 .63 .60 a/r . I would only run about 9 psi on the stock d series. The rods are about the size of my pinky. later
