yea sorry i keep forgettng the world doesn't revolve around me.

I have a y8...

I'm not sure what i want it to spool at, simply because i have no experience using turbos...what does everyone spool at? what power do they make? do you all wish you had quicker spool and less power or visa versa? im just tryin to get opinions cuz this is all remotly new to me....

also im not lookin to spend obscene amounts of money...but just assume there's not a price limit for now.

you really need to set some goals for power. If you dont have a price limit, I would go with a ball bearing turbo. You can get better spool up and good power. Maybe one of garrets GT series turbo's. And pardon my ignorance, but what is a y8 (engine size?)

a y8 is a obd2 SOHC VTEC 1.6L

go talk around on homemadeturbo.com. there are a few guys over there making gobs of power on d series. one guy over there was making like 304 at the wheels on a stock bottom end w/ a t3/4, that was on a z6 though. basically the same motor. if i were you i would hold off on boosting the motor until you have pretty much everything together that you need. i think the limiting factor you will have on boost at the get go will be using the v-afc hack...because i've heard using over 10-11ish psi on those throws a MAP code...

I have to get the kit on asap because my dad wants his garage space back...i figured hte best way to do it would be just get the bare essentials in there and boost lowest setting possible until i get the remaining components.

Let's say my ultimate goal is 300 fwhp at Xpsi.

Ill hit up homemadeturbo later today and ask around, see what info they have to offer.

Thanks again.

if you arent worried about lag at all and are just looking for 300 fwhp i would look into getting a nice sized t3/4. you should be able to do taht at a moderate boost level.

Yeah, a small T3/TO4E would probably do the trick. Maybe even a T28? that might be pushing it, i dunno.

T28 is gonna need to be at 18-25 psi to get the airflow you need to get 300hp.

get any series of t04e for your lower boost hp goals.
