Toyota Tacoma Clutch install problem
Ok so im replacing my father's clutch for him at 222k, OEM clutch, just slips every so often, the clutch has never been done before this is the first time the trans has been off,
When i went to reinstall the clutch cover, clutch, with the alignment tool and the clutch over will not slide on the mounting posts and have the accompanying bolt holes line up.
When i went to Autozone to check another one from a different brand it looked the same, the supposed bolt holes were that did line up the hole that the bolt hole is too small.
Here is a few pics i took.
There is a hole there but its so dang tiny there no where for a bolt to go
I have now tried a auto zone clutch, an advance auto clutch, a napa clutch and a becks/arnley clutch. Some 1996 some 1997 and none of them are the same as the one that has come out of the 1996 truck oem part, oem is stupid expensive at least on my budget and im completely confused, tomorrow im calling toyota with a huge "WHAT THE HELL" and my vin # to see what they can tell me.

That idea crossed my mind but i dont know for sure if the clearances inside the bell housing will be the same, IE press the clutch pedal and the clutch does not completely disengage.

I almost don't want to ask but did you try rotating the pressure plate to make sure that the holes are not offset.. Just asking...

Re: Toyota Tacoma Clutch install problem
Yes i rotated the thing several several times to be sure.
I dont have a Bap Geon near me i dont believe, I have done plenty of clutches before, this is the first time i have ever had this problem. Tomorrow the OEM toyota clutch comes in and if its not below 30 tomorrow night, ill crawl under the truck, assuming they at least look the same and have the same hole pattern this time.

Toyota got in the oem reman today and it looks like to will fit great, i have no idea why this case is so isolated but i cant find any other instance of this happening. crazy.
