i have heard you can remove the lense using an oven. is this true and has anyone done this??? also what tempeture do you set it on and how long??

Low as the oven will go. Preheat to the lowest temp, then turn it off and put the light assembly in. You don't want direct heat, just convection.
You're just trying to soften the adhesive sealant that mates the two sections together. Too much heat and the plastic will soften and distort.
Make sure you have any screws removed before you do this...
