tachometer redlines at 3500rpm

tachometer redlines at 3500rpm
i have a 90 honda civic hatchback dx. i just brought a tach from autometer, i hook everything up right, but my problem is that my tach doesnt rev past 3500 rpms. i was wondering what could be the problem.

im pretty sure theres a wire that ties in somewhere with your tach from watching someone do it before, check that and make sure its the right one. thats the only thing that makes sense

did you cut the 3 wires on the back of the tach remove the screw on the back of the tach pull out the 3 wires and cut them if its that style tach read the instructions
