stupid b16 question

Default stupid b16 question

I know this may sound dumb, but I just got a JDM B16 with LSD tranny put in my car, and tonight was the first time Ive driven it, and it revs ALOT higher than my old motor, yea i know its supposed to, but it was doin around 3.5k rpms at 60mph, is that right?

My sol is around 4k at 70-75 MPH, so yeah.. They're rev happy engines, and usually geared that way..

it just depends on your gearing, it really doesnt have anything to do with the motor. the b16 tranny is most likely geared way lower then your old transmission. care to share what your old setup was?

well im used to the 100hp D15, and it let me go into 5th at like 35 mph and sit there in the low 1000rpm range fine, the new set up doenst like being under 2k rpms

Yes, it is perfectly normal. The gear sets in the b16a transmissions are very short. It is this way because of the lack of mid range power. You have nothing to worry about though.

yea, the engine surges at exactly 1.5k rpms, its weird, is that where it's close to stalling out or what?
