Default Stripped Head Bolt Thread

i think i stripped a head bolt thread in my block because i keep turning it and it doesn't tighten.

i searched and found that Helicoil and Timesert will fix this. anyone know any machine shop i could take it to get fixed. how much would it cost? or could i do it myself and if so where would i pick up a helicoil?

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Can people do this without removing the head? If so, I'm curious as to how to.

so there's no bolt in there just the threads are gone? if so, helicoil it if you have enough room.

no it's wierd, i can screw the headstud in a little bit but after a while the ratchet just keeps turning and it doesn't tighten anymore, and when i look in the hole, there are some metal shavings.

where could i get a helicoil kit or a timecert kit? i heard timecert is really expensive
