is it possible that the alternator is bad? i mean its clicking but not kicking over so could the alternator be seized or something?

You just completely focused your troubleshooting efforts.. I'm assuming that you touched power to the control terminal on the starter, so your problem most likely lies in whatever usually switches power to that terminal of the starter. Just slow down and think about what you're learning from what you're doing.

yea so i feel like an idiot....went out to mess with the car tonight...and we decided to start from square one ....power....turns out the wire was loose at the battery terminal so the starter wasnt getting power .... whoopssssss.....thanks for all the help though

No, that's good. It's a simple fix so you'll be back up in no time. Problem solved.

Make sure its not you NSS(neutral safety switch)

little late there bro, but thanx for the suggestion. And to the others, yeah, it works fine, jus goes to show how you cant over look the basics.
