i really never heard or drove or seen an sr20det (s14) untill i did mine...and i wanted to know if its normal for the engine (exhaust) to putt like a subaru impreza sti ?? i have a 3' down pipe cat catback exhaust (w/silencer) front mont intercooler greddy bov over sized oil pan gt28 turbo with lines and boosting 10psi.....is it supposed to sound like that ???

 

some sound like a put-put-put-put-put deep tone. but never like an impreza. what kind of exhaust do you have. i have never seen a need for any kind of silencer on a turbo 240.

 

it does have that put put put put sound deep tone and even when i take off its like a put put put put all the way up the rpmsi thought its supposed to be a little smoother like the ka....i got it from xs power...5ZIGEN

 

You sure it's not an exhaust leak somewhere?

check all the exhaust gaskets

 

its hard to describe the sound of exhaust online with just text lol.

When i first put an Apex N1 on my SR, it htought it sounded much like a WRX just because it was deeper tone than my RS-R. Find someone local to help u out.

 

how's your idle? are you running rich? does the car seem like it has good power? is the turbo spooling well?

You could have a leak in the intake or exhaust. Also, check your plugs. I guess it's possible that your SR had cams installed.....

HAHAHAH! you've got to be kidding me. You should hear my car (Blitz Nur Spec exhaust). It's retarded loud without the silencer.

 

no exhaust leaks no vacuume leaks turbo spools great...maf works good....def a loss in power because i put in a can of injection cleaner and it putters like sometimes it will have full power and most the time it doesnt.....any other tips ??
