shifter wobble

Question shifter wobble

so i've had my skunk 2 short shifter in for a while and it hasnt bothered me till recently but it has about a .5-1 inch of play in it any ideas? thanks Nik

You need to find out where the play is coming from. It could be in the transmission, the linkage, or the assorted bushings in/around the shifter and shift linkage.

My money is on the bushing in the "ball" oh the shifter.

why is your money on the ball of the shifter?

Tighten the nut that holds the shifter to the linkage under the car. It will reduce alot of play.

Just make sure you dont over tighten it. it actually makes the shifter harder to move as a whole assembly. But try that or the bushings.

I had the same problem, and bought energy suspension shifter bushings for it, and it did nothing except feel a tad smoother, but still had that 1inch side to side play... i am kinda stumped also...

bryan id try that nut as I suggested. Jack the car up and tighten it little by little and check how the shifter feels. (it will change all aspects of it, side to side slop, and how lose the actual shifting is)
