Sandwich plates are a much better and cleaner idea than drilling and tapping your oil pan. And, after you decide to take the turbo off, you don't have to worry about filling the hole or getting another pan. And they're not too expensive, so I say go with it.

The sandwhich plate is for oil feed, not return. You still need to tap the oil pan for a short, un-impeeding path for oil to drain. If the return does not allow oil to drain, oil will back up and blow your turbo seals, not to mention lots and lots of smoke!

The real advantage of the sandwich plate, besides cleaner install, is the fact that it uses filtered oil to the turbo. Honda oil filters flow from the inside out. The housing of the sandwich plate, which is where the tap will be, is the outer part where oil flows after filtration.

I've used this on almost every set-up I've done. I have never had any problems. As far as brand, it doesnt really matter. I use an overpriced GReddy. But the Golden Eagle and AIC version is just as good.......
