Default S-afc II Help!

I recently hooked up my S-AFC II in my car, and when I did that my car threw a check engine light, as well as the tach being way off.. I don't know what could have done this.. maybe I hooked somethin up wrong or didn't hook it up at all.. When I say tach being off I don't mean by a couple hundred RPM's I mean my car says 5 grand, and my S-afc doesn't even break 1200.. if you have any info that could help me that would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
thanks
Slow Talon.. for now

how could it be connected wrong? it's just one wire right?? I used the diagram that came with the booklet, and it's for a 89-95 eclipse, but I have a talon... All the wires should still be the same right??

im not sure about them being the same, but i was saying maybe you connected the rpm signal wire to the wrong wire going to the ecu, just double check.....and check your sensor setting and make sure your getting a full signal when you do you sensor check.....

i had that same prob, my tach would read like 500 and the AFC would read 7k, is the code a crankshaft position sensor? mine threw a false one and it jacked up my tach. check the code and clear the ecu. are you running any correction? if so, run it at zero and see if you can stabilize ur idle first, then see if its still off.

if you have to , LAST CASE senario , run a wire from the dist. to the safc , the rpm signal wire from the dist to the rpm input on the safc

Tell you what... S-AFCII pissed me the fu** off when I first hooked it up. Took me like 2 weeks to get it right after stuttering the hell out of every parking lot and down everyhighway stretch!! I tried for just over a week and gave up and took it to auto solution and they gave me a base-line setting for my car for me to work with..... atleast I knew my engine wouldn't detonate from cruising!
