i recently got the rear shoes replaced on my beater by a buddy since i dont know a thing about drum brakes. anyways at first there was a slight scraping noise that sounded like the shoes had to be worned down. that noise went away after a few days. now about 2 months later theres a new noise and its really annoying/embarassing me. it started making the noise while i drive then goes away when i brake now its almost all the time. i need to get this fix.
also last thing its really really easy for me to pull off the rear drum cover. dont think thats normal but thought i should add

Re: rear drums making squeeling noise
Usually that outer drum piece is seized in place from the pressure from the wheel/lugs. Once you've cracked it free though, it will stay pretty loose until you dont pull it off for awhile.
Chances are someone will have to take a look at them. Drums aren't really hard to do, but if you havn't done em before, they can be intimidating.

They need to be adjusted out a little bit. There is a spiked wheel, best way i can describe it, between the shoes near the bottom. Spin that to expand them out a little more so it's not so easy to turn them and take the drum off.
