radiator cap blown off

Default radiator cap blown off

ok i have no idea what could cause this i was driving normally at about 50 in 5th gear the next thing i hear is a boom i pull over with a huge cloud of white smoke and i pop my hood the radiator cap has broken off along with the threads in it i just did a radiator flush not even 750 miles ago what could cause this? (also just changed clutch 750 miles ago along with an oul change)

please help! happened at 3 am 10/10.

(the temp gauge was at normal temp) was driving for only about 25 min.

sounds like it built up too much pressure. cap may not of been relieveing pressure like it was suppose to, or it just had a weak spot and finially let go. either way, something is causing a good pressure increase. your water and oil is not mixing is it?

maybe people who did flush didn't bleed the system leaving air pockets.

Gotta be a blown HG. A failed temp guage (reading way low). OR guy who did flush did not bleed system. Cant think of ANY other causes. My money is on HG. Do a compression check and a leakdown test. First just refill the radiator and run the car with no cap on it for a bit. If you see bubbles coming out when you rev in or even under idle HG is likely shot.
