Default Question about H.I.D.s

I recently bought and 8000k hid kit and istalled it, worked fine. I didnt like the color so I ordered 10000k bulbs and installed them for a more bluer color. I turned the headlights on and for about 5 min the headlights looked really blue and then they turned more whiter like the 8000k bulbs. My question is when upgrading bulbs are you supposed to upgrade the ballast too? and please dont bash this thread I dont care if you think its ricey, I just would like an answer, if anyone can help. thanks

No, you don't have to upgrade the ballast. They are all the same, its the bulb. Are you sure you got 10ks?

Maybe they're just cheap HIDs that don't work as advertised?

it all depends on the bulb. ballast just get them started up and keeps them on. they are really blue at first cuz the bulb is still "warming up".
8Ks are blue
10ks are blue/purple not so much blue.

it all depends on the company you go through from what I've seen. Some companys, 10K could be a blue/purple or it could be blue, the comany I got it through the 10k was blue and 12k was blue purple and the 8k's were called iceburg blue, a more white color. But then again i bought this kit on ebay, ran me about 150$
