they are typically 950. you see them for 900 every now and then. Install should be around 200-350 if done correctly. which means opened up the trans, cleaned the parts/case, and measured and shimmed correctly. New seals, and bearings would be best to do at this time if needed, checked at the minimum

Exactly what Fransico just just said.

Sooooooo many people have no idea what they are looking at much less how to rebuild one. They think they do...but they don't!
When was the last time you watched someone check mainshaft or differential thrust clearances, gear to gear clearances, or the shift piece to interlock clearances just to name a few. Very few tranny rebuilders do because of time...or they just don't know.

My question in all of this is, Why would you waste the money to buy and install the best limited slip diff in the poorest B series transmission?
Have you thought about...and I'm just trying to be helpful when I say this...sell your LS tranny and buy an jdm ITR tranny. This way you spend about the same amount and get the best B series with a factory LSD which I might add is not to shabby! You can buy one from japan from anywhere of $1000 to $1500...just a thought!

thanks for the help, but the reason he wants the ls is because of the longer gearing in the lower gears because hes running a turbo.

Well you can tell your friend that the turbo LS gears myth is just that...a myth that a bunch of guys back in the day came up with because they were running LS turbos and using a Buttjet dyno to tune. If you have him do any research I promise you that you will find out that no one who runs fast times runs with a LS tranny.
Hell, pure mathematics will show that shorter gears are better!

Just trying to help...and save money!

I can see the shorter gears being great for an N/A build since the torque boost from the turbo isn't there. BUT, having that punch along with the crank of the LS the longer gears would keep that thing from just spinning 1-3 gears. Replacing the final drive (like stated above) should give the LS transmission what it needs to move quickly.

I just can't imagine having my transmission matched with a Turbo LS and being able to keep the tires under control.. even with a Quiafe LSD. On street tires I can spin both tires 1-3 in wet conditions on a B17 just by punching the gas while in VTEC (6-8K RPM). Now, that is high in the power-band where there is very little torque on a stock B17.

We need some numbers here to clear up this confusion.

Call Terry @boostfed I think he sells them for like $900 shipped.
We install them for $240, for what it's worth.
