Same difference. If you were blowing your ring lands like that, possibility you were running a tad too much tolerance? How much boost? Your cylinders shaped like ovals?

no,maybe, and no. What does this have to do with pulling out the pistons?

If he needs to replace his pistons perhaps theres something wrong with the bore. . .

I'm done trying to explain it. . .

you're right. . . I'm wrong *

I just don't agree with you that changing pistons is a non-nonchalant and non involved job. I personally couldn't just switch out pistons on a car w/o getting the block cylinders checked. Concentricity, finish, bearings, I just believe if you're that deep into a motor, pull it, and do it thoroughly. I also don't believe that you should be changing pistons every other week on a motor. I don't know the specs of your build, but I would venture to guess theres something wrong a motor thats eating through ring lands like that regardless of tune.

Well thats your opinion. If you know what your doing and you know how to check everything then its a very simple task for some people.

So now you wanna edit your post to try and be a smart ass. You dont know dick about what setup i was running or how it was tuned. When you actually push a motor to its limits, things are bound to happen you have to pay to play. So dont be a smartass with me about something you dont know

Dude, chill out.

Again, all my personal opinion. The picture is a joke. I've seen motors pushed to their limits and I've seen motors built out of tolerance and incorrectly and blow the fuck up. I've seen a CBR-RR motor that was built incorrectly, and guess what happened, ring lands took a shit probably 600 miles in and ate cylinder walls with it. I'm not saying I'm all omnipotent, but if a guy can get a season off a full blown 2600+ hp drag motor, do you not agree for a street driving car, replacing pistons every other week is excessive? I understand you pay to play, this has nothing to do with that.

Better yet, lets get more information on exactly why he's replacing pistons. I'm guessing he blew something up, in which case, its like throwing a band aid on a leg that got thrown into a wood chipper.

Again, these aren't attacks on you, so don't come out swinging and tell me I don't know what I'm doing as you have no idea on how many motors i've built and been into.

Edit: Double negative.

Edit: Forgot the 'not' in front of all omnipotent.
you saying you have to pull the tranny to take off a oil pan gave a big assumption you havnt done many. Im sure 2600hp race engines aren't using plain jane stock honda pistons. Only thing that would happen was the ring land would break, nothing bad ever happened to a cylinder. You say your not trying to attck me but some of the comments kinda seem like it.

but no reason to say anything until he says why he needs to replace them, then he can get advise from people
