I will be changing my oil and piston rings soon and then installing a turbo kit. Here is the question i wanted to change the rings and install the kit at the same time since i'll have everything pulled down.....
But with oil and piston rings i know there is a break in period and i don't want to mess anything up. So how should i do this?

 

you are aware of whats involved in changing piston rings, right?

 

i don't think he does. do you know exactly what you getting yourself into? this isn't a one day job you know if its your first time. there are many ways to break-in pistons rings. do a search on google.

 

You're not seriously thinking about changing your rings without honing your cylinders, are you?

Ring break-in goes something like this: Go gentle, don't spin too long at the same RPM (like long highway trips at the same speed), and don't use synthetic oil. Oh, and stay off the boost for a while, until the rings seat nicely. All this is slight overkill, but overkill never hurts when you're building a turbo setup.

 

i understand the process of changing the rings! I was just asking since i'll have the oilpan and everything else pulled.....Changing rings should only take a few hours not days...

i have all the tools.....well i am borrowing a friends shop so he has everything needed.

 

I was talking to some of the guys at honda yesterday and from what they say i could do this........install everything set the boost
low or no boost at all and let the car run at a different RPM's
but not to overkill it...

does that sound right?

 

sounds right to me. just do a search on hondatech, i'm sure they'd set you straight...
