p28 chip
Go to a shop they usually have some chips laying around or find someone that will sell you one, they just have to tune it for your motor setup. If you're going with chrome tell them you want 2-step when they tune it and then you'll have launch control.
Whoops, epic fail. I thought this was the other thread. Editing time.
So here is how this works. A chip is what the ECU reads from. It has a program with all of the operating instructions for the ECU, and all of the fuel maps, ignition maps, etc. So when you get tuned with Crome or Hondata or whatever, some/all of those parameters are changed, and the modified program is written to a chip. All of the changes are done based on the tuning for your engine, with your modifications, etc.
When you ask what chip to get, you're asking what pre-made program to get, with parameters that are tuned for someone else's car. So if their setup was anything different than your setup, you aren't going to know what those mods are.
Basically, you know nothing about the other engine, and your results may vary.If you're anything like me, after I spend a lot of money and time doing some engine mods, that last thing I want is "your results may vary".
Also, a lot of the pre-made programs are just USDM or JDM stock programs that have had the the fueling made more rich and the VTEC crossover and rev limits changed. For example, there never were any Skunk2 or Mugen programs released to the public, because both of those companies know that some pre-programmed chip isn't going to work well on another car.
Anyway, do you really want a chip that was tuned for someone else's car?
