what is the base hp for an ls vtec motor?

It depends on the head, i read an article with building one just slapping it to gether with intake header, exhaust it was about 175hp not sure if that was crank or flywheel. it was used with a B16 head

 

yea im just talkin about a regular old ls vtec. with header intake and exhaust... maybe in the future a b16 head...

reason im asking is a guy wants to trade me my LT1 camaro for an ls vtec civic

 

imo thats not an even trade..unless the lsvtec civic is heavily modded..the camaro is going to be faster,and have more power..and even then..its a v8 vs. a 4 cylinder...the power output can never been compared.

a regular lsvtec civic which consists of :

B18b1 bottom end
B16head
LS tranny

will only see gains of about 160 170whp with I/H/E

and thats what most people do...is just a basic lsvtec..they dont change out the pistons and get p30's..or get CTR or ITR cams...

 

it all depends on the setup. pistons, ecu, trany, head. botom line you need a lot to even consider a trade.

but if it is a b18b, si or type r head, si or tipe r trany, 11.1 compresion, with hondata, i would go for it.
