Re: Opinions on downgrading turbo?
Get a better intercooler, then whatever turbo you get can work to its potential. A 27 inch long intercooler with 7x2.5 cross section is a lot of flow loss, especially with an eBay core. I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to use a core that long with a section area that small. It's the perfect recipe for pressure loss.
You might think about going with a Garrett GT BB turbo. They're more expensive than the regular journal/thrust bearing units that you're looking at, but at least you'd be upgrading in turbo performance while you're downgrading in power output.
Why are you switching to a smaller turbo, are you unhappy with the lag for the amount of power output that your current turbo puts out?

Re: Opinions on downgrading turbo?
the lag isn't too bad if I raised the rev limiter to 9500, but alot of guys are telling me to just downgrade my size, because I have a little 1.6. Maybe is I had a 1.8 bottom end I could get any with it, but I still wanna give the turbo a shot. I'm only running 8psi on it now, until I get my hondata map sensor.
