Opinions on a turbo upgrade
Well i wanna move from archaic journal bearing to more modern duel ball bearing turbo. I cant go too big cause i dont plan on ever running more than 10 psi maybe 12.
Here is my options as i see it.
Get a brand new DuelBallBearing center section for my T3/t4e 57trim and basically just make my t3/t4 a duelballbeaing system. about 950 bucks.
Or get a Garrett GT3071R Or sumthing similar sized and just upgrade the whole turbo. Ballbearing compressor and what not to sumthing more modern.
1375$
Will the price diffrence be worth it and how well does the DBB turbos run compared to journal bearing...or is ist just hype?
Any info on the GT serious and such is welcome ...thanx.
Also for more info i have a 2.5 litre v6. The t3/t4e works great..id just want better spool and as ive read BB turbos can offer that.

Re: Opinions on a turbo upgrade
GT2871s (GT28RS) are rated up to 350-375 usually, no more than that, and I think that's a little on the high side for real world output.
The nice thing about the Garrett GT BB turbos is that the wheel design is really nice and modern. If you upgrade your T3/T4e to BB, you now have old wheel design but with a BB CHRA. So ask yourself whether you just want a BB CHRA turbo, or want a modern high tech turbo.. I like Garrett GTBB stuff, can you tell?

Re: Opinions on a turbo upgrade
i think im gonna go with the gt30 cause it says the gt28 is better suited for 2.0-2.2 4 bangers. I agree though might as well get a whole new turbo with updated wheels and turbines and shit.

Yeah, I'd go bigger than a GT28RS, that's for sure.. You could probably pull off a pair of GT25Rs if you want to go dual, 1.3L per turbo would work well for those..

Re: Opinions on a turbo upgrade
+1 for the GT3071, at least this way you won't be limiting yourself as much (like with the GT28R) if you want to go for more power in the future.
