ODB2 To ODB1
So i've been researching about this alot lately and its some confusing stuff as i can see!
I want to put a chip in my 99 SI, not sure if this is useless due to me having no mods but a midpipe and CAI. But reading about one of them says it will work with stock applications. I do remember somebody on here awhile back telling me that i would have to take my ECU in to get a port in it to hook up a ODB1 Port? Is this true or not? Also, if i remember reading right an ODB2 is more strict on tuning( pretty much can't really tune at all ) and ODB1 is what you want to be able to tune and run a performance chip on it?
For the future, im new to hondas so keep your smart comments to yourself! thanks!

you will need:
-obd1 ECU (depending on you, i would get a p28)
-obd2 to obd1 ECU conversion harness
-obd2 to obd1 distributor harness
-obd1 distributor
and yes, hondata makes everything.
hondata also came out with a new thing, its a obd2 ECU with s300 in it. buddy is buying it for his ls/vtec supercharged fo'doh

YOU DO NOT NEED ONE FOR YOUR CAR TO BE OBD1. All you need is the conversion harness and the obd-1 ecu.
The ONLY difference between a obd1 ecu and a obd2 is the connector and all Honda did was combined the two plugs(obd1) to a one plug connector (obd2).
I don't understand why people say you need a obd-1 distributor.

i knew that.
you really dont even need a conversion harness.. you can just cut and splice.
so i was right when i said you cant chip a ODB2 ECU? All i need to buy is a ODB1 ECU AND THE ODB2 TO ODB1 Conversion Harness? What else do i get out of having a ODB1 Ecu in my car?
im learning about these hondas as i go, gotta say they are some fun cars!!!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spend the $75 or so and get a conversion harness like Jarrod said. So if you ever want to sell your car stock you can just unclip the harness and go back to OBD2.
& yes you can't tune a OBD2 Honda as of yet. Maybe the future but as of now... It's not happening.
Not happening with the stock microcontroller. It's a lost cause unless someone can port the stock OKI microcontroller code over to another micro. It's a shame, so many Hondas could use that.
