Default No reverse lights

I have a 02 DC5 and I also have no back up lights. I've checked the bulbs, fuses, and everything else I can think of. I disconnected the electronic reverse switch on tranny and tried to get a better connection, and still nothing. Right where the cluster of wires come out by the valve cover, theres a green and yellow wire just laying there. When you turn the ignition on the yellow goes hot andd the green doesnt have any juice. So if anyone out there knows of anything I can do with my back up lights or those wires, help me out.

Unless the law changed recently, I'm 95% sure you don't need reverse lights to pass inspection. As long as both of them are out and not just one. Assuming of course that's why you are trying to get them fixed.

Look up a factory manual for your car in PDF format, it will have the schematics you need to properly troubleshoot.

You are missing something simple. A fuse, a relay, maybe even a loose harness connector. Only in rare cases have I found the problem to be a short or a failed reverse light switch.

Pick up a multi-meter. Check for continutity from the bulb and go back from there.

You DO need reverse lights to pass VA state inspection.
