Default no reverse!

the car is a 2002 VW golf 4 door.

Its an Auto and the reverse doesnt work (most of the time) it'll slip when its in reverse and it wont catch. Anyone know anything about auto's?

i take it you have checked your tranny fluid lvl ?

and you've checked the condition of the tranny fluid? (hint, it should be red)

about to get the car this weekend. ill deff check the fluid. but is THAT the problem? goes into drive fine.

No not necessarilly, however it is the cheapest, most common fuck up in an Automatic Transmission. Fluid level, and condition are extremely important.
