Default Negative effects of gutting cat?
Will i get any CELs, backfiring, or other negative problems if i gut my cat? The car is a 98 civic EX (D16Y8). thanks!

You will get a CEL. Also the car will sound much more raspy. The car may backfire, but I doubt it if it's fairly stock. Specially the ignition and cam timing. Why would you want to gut it anyway? Why not just have a test pipe made?

Mines gutted and boy does it backfire its ass off. No unnecessary smoke or smell... my car is supposed to sound raspy under WOT anyways.

am i wrong, or is that one in the manifold? i know we have several customers that come in and shit a brick when we give them a replacement cost on that converter.....



not to mention that it is a 10k dollar fine if you get caught.....

i got one of those ebay resonator cats for only 30 bucks and kept my stock one for that special time of the year.

i have a 97 ex with NO cat and mine doesnt back fire, no CEL and it does smell but thats cuz im boooooosted
