i disconnected the ground...and sanded the area down to the bare metal...so it would have a better connection..

Either the ground is bad, or something along the red power line. Assume there's a break in the wire somewhere with an intermittent connection or the fuse is bad

did he use that volt shit right...putting the red on the power and the black on the ground...he says when he does that the number r supposed to jump...he also tested it on the batter...visa versa on the battery and the number where all over the place...

It should still play down low though, even with a smaller wire. Need to check the fuse near the battery.

What size amp?

Now I'm sure it's the wire. You need a bigger gauge then pen sized.
