Take a voltmeter and see what you have coming off the alternator at the battery.

check ground wire and make sure you got a good ground .whatever size gauge wire go in + should aslo be the same size - wire and check what the above poster stated. when you amp fades does it turn off or go into pritection mode ? if it doesnt turn off or go into protection mode then its your rca's.if it does cut off it could be a bad remote wire, ground or a bad + lead .

Fuse maybe? I've had those round fuses actually break at the end, where it connects. It may not look blown. I would try a fuse first anyway. Or use the voltmeter to find out where its losing power.

does it just fade when the bass hits?? or just at random points with no bass?
i had the same problem when i had 2 12s running off a 500 watt amp.
everytime the bass would hit it would go into protection mode. play around with all the levels on the amp and see if it still fades out. if so youre probably putting out too much power for the wires, battery and such to handle. as stated before check your grounds, other wires, etc.,
or it could be something as simple as a short.
check for any exposed wires! thats another problem i encountered that made the same thing happen
