That's because he did something wrong. If you correctly put together an LS/VTEC there's no reason it can't go the distance.

so by adding the ls crank to the gsr after having it balanced would that make any diference in the torque numbers? and are the ls forged rods as strong as the gsr meaning as thick or any weak points in either of the rods?

Yeah the ls crank well affect the torque numbers. LS forged rods are just as stong as forged gsr rods.

just go itr turbo with an inline pro 3mm headgasket

If he's asking about lsvtec, he probably doesn't have can't afford going itr turbo.

I would bore and sleve the gsr to 84mm and put a well balanced, knife edged LS crank in it..... that way you will have the TQ and HP numbers and wont have to go through all the trouble of building LS/VTEC (head modification).... but just like any build up, it all depends on how much money you have to spend

thats what im doing with my old GSR block & build with manley rods, cp pistons, GE girdle.

Honda cranks do not need to be "knife edged". They do not sit in the oil like oil other engines. Besides, the more weight you take off of the rotating mass the less torque you will make. Not that it's really needed in a turbocharged fwd street car.
