Default ls vtec oil problems

i just drove my car for the first time tonight after building my ls vtec motor. 99 bottom end with 00 si head. EVERYTHING is new from the pumps to the gaskets. ive got really low oil pressure and the car feels slugish. i pulled the oil filter off and it doesnt look like the oil was circulating as it should. went and bought 2 more oil filters tonight and the oil is circulating through the filter now but it sounds like the head is starving for oil. (loud ass lifter ticks) any body encounter this problem before? also my car was a obd0 crx converted to obd1 when did the swap.

specs on the motor
BRAND NEW
rings/bearings
99 ls bottom end with
gsr water pump
gsr oil pump
gsr pistons
used stock ls rods/crank
new kms crank girdle

00 si head
new valve stem seals

Did you plug the port on the bottom of the head? And did you make sure the oil passage orifice was in place in the block?

I know you have to take that oil jet out of the block when putting a vtec head on a non-vtec block...on d-series.

Don't know about b series though.

You say the oil pressure is low.
What were the bearing clearances when you put the motor together?
