Installing a clutch (Ek civic)
has anyone ever used a beck-arnley clutch kit? if so how is it? my dad went looking and said thats what advanced auto has. so he wanted me to ask if anyone knew anything about them.
Def. Go with competition before advanced or auto zone. Or go with an oem replacement like excedy. You could probably pick one up for $150.00 or so shipped on ebay
Buy a new stage 2 competition clutch kit and have a local shop resurface your oem flywheel if you don't get a lightened one. Break it in 500 miles of normal city driving (no aggressive driving during that break in period AT ALL.
Your dad is old fashioned (I assume) and seems like a domestic kinda guy. He will never understand the design or the concept behind import technology so if he thinks the design on a 6 puck clutch is poorly designed then have him convice EVERYONE in the honda scene...not happening.
Summary and break down:
-buy the stage 2 comp. Clutch
-resurface your flywheel ($10-35)
-i wouldn't recommend doing this by yourself only reason being is if you do it wrong then your going to have to take out the trans again and figure out what you did wrong. But if you have a general knowledge on clutch installs then GO FOR IT. VERY easy if you know what your doing.
Good luck

thanks for the help. i havent looked at this in a while but my dad was reading it at work and he told me to look at the last post. now i can make fun of him for being "old fashioned" lol thanks man.
Also, when you get the flywheel resurfaced, MAKE SURE that the guy knows what he's doing and doesn't machine off the dowel pins. I had some idiot machine the pins right off my flywheel and tell me I didn't need them. Then I get everything back together and my entire drivetrain vibrates
i have used many clutches and the one i have now(compotition stage 4 6puck sprung) is by far the best i have had its not goin to slip unless you are makin insane power and it has been perfectly fine for me for daily driving no chattering or stiff pedal comp clutch has a like stock feel but grabs like a racing clutch so you get the best of both and if you get the whole clutch kit it will come with the throw out berring and pilot berring , pressure plate and disc
and for your shifter being loose feeling ( is it a stock shifter?) if it is then get a password jdm , or energy suspension shifter bushing kit it will stiffin it up and now make it feel worn out
as far as doin the clutch insatall i can get em done in bout hour and half to 2 hrs start to finish but if its your first time with a honda take your time and do it right its really easy and it should only take you like 4 hrs at the most as long as you dont stop lol
