Default Ignition Question?

ok here is the problem. I bought a 92 hatch back shell about 2 weeks ago and i finally got around to putting my motor in it (d16z6). everything went in smooth but when I hooked up the battery all the gauges came on and the fuel pump turned on. But i didn't have a key in the ignition. I thought maybe the ignition was messed up so I changed that but its still the same way. The reason i bought the car was because it looked like none of the wiring had ever been touched. BUt besides the ignition im not sure what to check. Has any one else ran into this problem.

check for any direct connections to the battery, or anywhere around there, that don't look right, cuz it has to be something simple, have u tried starting the motor?
