Horrible Tuning By Brauning. Need another tuner !!!
Like i said before make sure the motor is tuned right away before you drive it anymore. Running that rich is going to destroy a freshly built engine that hasn't had the rings seat yet. One thing i forgot to tell you before is you may want to check your map sensor readings to see if the map sensor is even hooked up properly. 99% of the times i see people complain about their motors running THAT pig rich it is a map sensor issue where the sensor is reading atmospheric pressure rather than vacuum under partial throttle driving conditions. That mixed with a possible bad rich tune from the start can really dump in some fuel under all driving conditions.
Hmm. Well, I live around the corner from Brauning, and I've seen several of the cars they have output and everyone I've sent there has come out happy.
Every shop has a bad day, which is no excuse. I have also had my fair share of horrible experiences with shops when I was building my F20b turbo Accord project waaaay back in the day, so I know how frustrating that is.
I do have some questions though. The original explosion on the engine, when you discovered that the mods that were done to the inside, which raised the compression ration higher than you expected, and you told them to boosst it at a higher level than they recommended...you're not mad about that I hope...because they did what you, the customer, asked them to do.
As for the break-in, I have no inputs on what's right or wrong, but Mark is a builder of race engines...he's built many, I've seen them, I've seen the customers, I've seen the results on the track around here.
In my humble opinion, a combination of not knowing what you had in your engine with bad communication and probably a new tech (or a tech having an off day) just combined to make a bad experience. I'm sorry for your loss, I know how it feels to dump $15k into a project and yield NOTHING from it, it's not a fun time. But I'm just offering up that most people around here appreciate Brauning's services.

No I haven't actually...maybe I need to.
Since I just got a PM from the OP, I'll clear something up. I'm far from associated with Brauning in any way shape or form...nor do I really deal with anything closely related to tuning cars, building, racing, enjoying...anything of the sort anymore...hence my near-disappearance from dragva...errr...vadriven. They could disappear from the world for all that would effect me. I just thought I'd throw it out there what I had seen and heard in my experiences with them.

--by the way if you want a real tuner go to Tempest racing
