all this makes me laugh. when i had an ap1, all i said was 9k, 9k, 9k, 9k, and so on. i bragged about the 'rawness'.....and how did i feel after i traded in my 03 for an 06?....i looked back on everything i said and realized it was non-sense. all the ap1 owners can be biased, and deny it, but, the ap2 blows the ap1 out of the water in looks, hands down. of course, it can be an acquired taste, but 90% of the ap1 owners i have talked to have either started an ap2 conversion, or have lusted after the ap2 looks. for comments saying once you drive an ap1, you wont want anything else, thats wierd. they are very similiar cars, the ap2 handles better....may not feel as nimble(which i havent noticed), but the ap2 will run a quicker track time, that cant be argued. the interior on the ap1 sucks, i hated it, the center console was ugly. ap1's like to burn oil, ap2's dont. the thing that amazed me the most on the ap2, was the bump in torque, before getting the 06 i knew of the torque difference but thought nothing of it. but during the test drive i was impressed.... you dont have to bring it up to 6k like the ap1 to keep up with traffic. when i purchased the ap1, i was very biased, i had to justify my purchase, i couldnt afford an 04+ at the time. i loved it, and 9k was fun, but in my experience, the ap2(06/07) is the better car.

To each there own, and as long as you like your car that's all that matters. I prefer stiffness of the ride, I can feel EVERYTHING. But in a sports car I also choose not to have a car that is drive by wire. Everything about the AP2 to me, just goes aways from a true sports car. But I do agree that the looks are better in the AP2.

i dont like the looks of the AP2. The front bumper is to round, and the headlights/tail lights look like they came out of a lego box.

dont get me wrong, i love the ap1, if i could afford it, i'd own both! as for your 'sports car' comment....thats the typical biased ap1 owner comment. you cant tell me that dbw doesnt belong in sports cars. every 'sports car' or high end car that has some type of traction control is dbw.

Not true.

And other companies have figured out how to do DBW. Honda hasn't.

ok, but how would a tcs/vsa system operate with a cable from the pedal directly to the throttle body, when the computer takes over when it puts these systems to work?

It can cut fuel and timing, activate the brakes... lots of stuff can be done without actually closing the throttle.

thanks for the explanation, i have always thought, that most of the engine control by the computer was done at the throttle.

My personal taste in sports cars lies in the AP1 and other cars like BMW e30's and so fourth. I enjoy the "raw" feeling that cars like that provide. I've owned many dbw cars and I just don't enjoy the feel of the car. I drove my dad's AP2 for over a year everyday, and don't get me wrong, I love the way it drives. But I love the way an AP1 drives more. I think it's pretty obvious that the AP2 is a more refined car ie: suspension, looks, interior, and even motor. I personally enjoy the VTEC engagement on my AP1, it's much more aggressive. As opposed to the AP2 which is very smooth. It's all very personal IMHO and I think the cars are so completely close in performance it's unreal.
