head unit question

Default head unit question

this may be in the wrong section so redirect me if it is please but, i have a kenwood KDC-519 that came with my car and all of the sudden i just stopped working, only a line would show up across the screen and now its stuck half open and it wont even turn on..i was just wondering if anyone knows what might be up??

if it is a motorized face most of those units have ribbons in them that go bad. I know mine has been repaired twice for that reason.

check the fuse in the fuse box, if that one's good, there should be an inline fuse somewhere behind the radio. If those good, I'd agree with the ribbon...

i couldnt find a fuse in the fuse box for it, all it had was japanese letters and shitty english translations like main fuse, horn blah blah

oh damn....uhm....gotta figure out which one's the radio. try pullin them all one by one, and see if any are bad... What kinda car is it? How long was it working before it stopped?

89 crx..it was workin for the month i had it and i dunno how long before i bought it

I just had the exact same problem with my kenwood. The problem is the D-Mask cd players (the ones that the faceplate flips over to hide itself). It seems that they just stop working after a few years. The ribbon cable is a posibility but on mine that wasnt the case. I just had to get a whole new cd player b/c the electronics on the inside just went bad. The new line of kenwood cd players dont feature the D-Mask anymore.

mine did the same thing. worked fine one day then nothing. when i would cut the power to it then hook it back up it would open then close after a few seconds. but wouldnt do anything else. shitty kenwood!
