anyone know what temperature the actual BMW H.I.D.s run at? i'm interested in doing an H.I.D. conversion to my car and i want it to look like the bmws. anyone know?

i am not sure about the temperature but it is less exo heat than halogen bulbs

I think he's talking about the temp as in 4000k 6000k. I've been told that anything over 4500k doesn't increase output of visible light, just changes the color.

ugh....i think youre thinking of the xenons.....they are a motherfucker too. supposedly you need the control units and everything....or are you thinking of the angel eye "halo" conversion?

Stock BMW ones are 5000K I think (could be 4500K, whatever it is it's not very high) ... you are correct in saying that higher temps don't produce more light, they simply look more blue. In fact they actually put out less visable light.

what am i going to put angel eye "halos" on i drive an mr2 they dont make them for my car but i was talking about a true H.I.D. kit not just the bulbs. i understand that the bmws use control boxes and etc. just wanted to know what color range they were in

yes it is the temperature

Temp. and output are different, think of the temp. more as the color of the light as per pic above
