GSR boosted with 3MM head gasket
Need help with timing problems on a GSR with a 3MM headgasket used to lower compression on a boosted car. The timing marks are 2-3 degrees off due to the thicker headgasket, but would like to know if adjustable cam gears would help to correct the problem. Does anyone know someone with the same set up? and what did they do or I am just going to build up the bottom end. thanks
cam gears will definatly work. i had the opposite problem. i had my head and block milled so that it advanced the timing. it was hard to say exactly how many degrees it was off without a degree wheel. i didn't use a degree wheel. i locked cams to TDC, unlocked cam gears, set crank to TDC, locked cam gears. my gears are at -1, -1 for TDC.
I played around with it for awhile, but put in the block I have now and stock gsr head. Works for me know. Put down 454 whp at 23 psi. doing a 3 inch dp and hoping for around 500.
