If the syncro has been bad for a descent period of time the actual mainshaft and countershaft 3rd gear may need to be replaced as well. Do not only replace one of them! You will ruin the one you replace if you only replace one. Also, they are not cheap at all.

 

thanks for the info people. for now i just wont shift high into third, i think i will have someone fix it when i get my clutch replaced(whenever that actually happens).thanks you guys

 

try BG syncro shift or buy new tranny

I just started grinding third when i'm pullin up to 8K RPM. i'm thinkin its because i have the wrong axle seals and i'm pretty sure most my fluid is gone by now. I'm gonna put in those brand new OEM seals and filler up with GM syncromesh
