Default Engine Swap: Putting a 2zz-ge in a Ae101 Corolla (Toyota Question)

I have a 1999, ae101 Toyota Corolla. I currently have a 1zz-fe engine (well, I have two 1zz-fe engines).

My question: is there any way in hell you can fit a Celica 2zz-ge engine into a Corolla (ae101) bay? Moving/removing airbox and relocating battery are already done. But the question is will the 2zz fit right in, arnt they in the same zz family.. and they are right around the same size? Anyone have some extra specs about the ae101 bay and how much it can take/dimisions/etc/etc.

Any Toyota Professionals out there? Toyota-Tech-man?

99 Corolla is a zze110. The 2zzge has the same dimensions as the 1zzfe and should drop right in. I have heard of the swap being performed on the MR-S, so I am sure it is quite possible for the Corolla. On another note, if you need suspension parts I have a Ground Control coilover setup + Tokico HP + Tom's front strut bar available for $400 total.

Oh yeah, sorry. I don't know why I was thinking ae101, ae is the A series engine. Thanks for the comments..

Another question: I'd have to get an ECU upgrade (hopefully one given with the engine) to support the VVT-i wouldnt I?

Oops, I am logged under a friends name. Pretend "Jestible" posted this..

A 2zzge ECU is a must in order to run the motor correctly, or get a programmable EMS if you have the funds.
