Dyno tuning
Hey, this is my 1st time posting here, and I need some help. I'm looking for prices on dyno tuning. Looking for what some of you have paid for an hour or two on the dyno with them tuning it, i don't think i'm qualified to do it myself. Last weekend a friend of mine down in the 757 area installed a Vacf2 and a set of CTR cams in my 96 gsr and now the idle drops from around 1200 down to around 650. And my CEL has come on with a code 71(1st cylinder misfiring) Any of you guys with experiance help me out. Thanks in advance

Re: Dyno tuning
Will dyno tuning do a lot for you since you have a misfire? Usually when you have a crazy idle like that, you have some sort of intake leak. If you're misfire problem has occured since the cam install, just double check the plugs and wires to make sure they're in the right spots and in there nice and tight. Since I own the inferior OHV engine, I don't know too much about the basic layout of your DOHC engine. Also check out the rockers for cylinder one to make sure the valves are opening properly. Hopefully it won't have to come down to that.

Re: Dyno tuning
hmmm the reason i mentioned the dyno is i thought maybe the vafc was causing the missfire? Could that be possible? I drove all the way home from VABeach to lynchburg on it with no problems besides the idling and then maybe 3 days later the CEL came on

Re: Dyno tuning
I think there is a place in lynchburg with a dyno. I'm not sure where it is exactly, might wanna try asking the guys in SW VA in the regional forums if you haven't already.

Re: Dyno tuning
since i cant help you with your idle and CEL problems at least ill post how much dyno tuning was for me.
steve sakai of SGT Racing in Frederickburg, VA #1-571-238-7607: 100bucks an hour for the dyno and 100bucks an hour for tuning the hondata which includes the wideband. so basically 200bucks an hour for dyno tuning for hondata. dont know about the VAFC.
shad of Abacus Racing in VA Beach, VA #1-757-363-8878: 100bucks an hour for dyno and i think it was like around 70bucks an hour for tuning the hondata.
like i said i dont know what they run to tune the VAFC, thats just hondata prices. theres more places to get your VAFC tuned but i thats the only 2 places ive dealt with.

Re: Dyno tuning
I wouldn't mind it so much if the prices I got for Abacus was 100 and 70. This is what I got from them.
Tuning on the dyno is $195.00 hr, general labor rate is $70.00 hr. Tuning typical runs one to two hours. Your best bet is to call and set up an appointment to drop it off with us.
