Default De-Rice My Exhaust Note

Alright, Heres the deal:

I recently went out and jumped on a decent custom 2.5'' downpipe-back exhaust. Price was good, so why the hell not?

But, there was a drawback to finding some more performance.
I have the rasp of doom. I no longer have a catalytic converter, or resonator, and I presently have a fart can on it ;p

I went out (slowly, and crying to myself) and got me a magnaflow muffler. However, I am not sure if replacing my can with this muffler will do much to reduce the rice.

So, I am asking for opinions of what route to take.

Resonator or Catalytic Converter?

I really couldn't give a damn about emissions at this point, and I will eventually be boosting the car a "tad".
I don't want to put something on I will need to remove later to free up some power.

I am basically asking which will eliminate the rasp better.
I have done some research on the web, and I have had the same exact same thing said for each of them, and then found sites to provide counter-info on them.

Any links or any extra information will be greatly appreciated. ie: sizes of cats/resonators, prices, manufacturers, etc...
Thanks!

Magnaflow mufflers still sound like shit. Get a cat. Get a resonator. Get a chambered muffler. You won't lose that much power.

You need to get at the least an 18in Resonator.. only way to rid of the rasp

yup, the turbine will absorb some of that noise.....

I had a customer with these issues before on a civic. He bought 2 standard resonators and I rigged them inline. Rasp went away.......

So I should go for the resonator? ;p

I can always get a new muffler down the road, but as long as the majority of my rasp is away, I'll be alot happier

Would standard muffler shops have resonators for sale?
Or is there a "high flow" resonator I should get?

also, any name brand resonator I should get? or will run of the mill ebay ones do?

yep. Even once you turbo you still want one. I had a straight pipe greddy evo with my turbo setup & higher rpms still had some rasp.

almost any muffler shops have it. Just make sure you get the one with the same pipe diameter as your current exhaust pipe.
