Default Daily Driver Problem

Last night I was helping a good friend of mine work on hs nissan sentra, we had to chage out the cat, and some other pipe. As he took the heat sheild off it hit the Alt. and sparks flew. On our way home from the shop, we noticed that none of the windows, brake lights, speedo, wipers, and turn signals worked. We checked all the fuses and none of them were blown, anyone have any ideas on what could of happened?
