D16Z6 Compression Test And Idle Issues
Just did a compression check on my 93 hatch with the stock engine.
cylinders from left to right facing the engine read:
#1- 150psi
#2- 140psi
#3- 155psi
#4- 145psi
i havnt really worked on hondas much until buying one a month ago. was just wondering if these numbers sound about right.
and the car was having idiling issues, it ran fine for awhile, the car would not idle at the regular rpm. i think its the tps. it will bounce back and forth from 1000rpm to 2500rpm and then the other day when i went to leave it died and had trouble starting afterwards.
any advice or tips to help me get my car back on the road would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: D16Z6 Compression Test And Idle Issues
Comp #'s seem o.k. Reason for the idle bounce is prob your fast idle valve (assuming there are no vacuum leaks) its mounted to the bottom of the throttle body. Coolant runs through it and it is a wax valve (cold=contracted & lettin air in. hot=expanded and passage is blocked) The wax isinde these wears out and causes alot of idlin probs. Good luck.
