my d16y8 cam is messed up and i have a d16y7 cam that i pulled out of my old motor that was still running.I wanna no if the y7 cam will work in the y8 head the lobs and everything looks the exact same.

yes, but you must also swap the rocker arm assemblies. I did this temporarily when my cam broke. Swap in the Y7 cam and rocker arms, adjust the valve lash, and you are golden. I also disconnected the VTEC solenoid just in case (there are no oil passageways in the Y7 rocker arm assembly). Basically converts you to a non-vtec head. Good luck.
