88-91 IS A6... yes a6 cam in b7 requires y7-y8 gear to be timed right

The cam will work with the b7 gear. It may not be the "correct" way to install the cam but at the time I was using the a6 cam there wasn't much information on what exactly to use. All I know is that the cam timing was off 4.25 degrees, like you mentioned. The only remedy to the situation we could come up with was to run the cam one tooth retarded or advanced. In any case, it solved out problem.

Thanks for the correction though, I didn't know that.
