hey i have a stock d15b7 and i thought a upgraded cam would help but i can only find them for 1.6 vtec head will they fit my head or what type of cam can i use?

I believe you can use a 1.6 non vtec cam, not positive tho.....you'd be better of just doin a mini me tho. with either a y8 or z6 head. I have a y8 for 50 bucks if u want it...pm me if u have anymore questions

ill help.... the b7 can share any cam that the d16a6(88-91 si non vtec 1.6) uses... you can actually take the a6 cam and put it in your b7.... the a6 and b7 are exactly the same head except that the 92-93(i think) b7s have different valve springs... but after 93 they started using the a6 valve springs that made the b7 and a6 exactly the same head except for the cam...... you CANNOT use the y7 nonvtec cam or ANY of the vtec cams in the b7..... you CAN use the A6, sohc ZC nonvtec(which has slighty bigger exhuast lobes than the a6), or any aftermarket cam for the a6 or zc sohc nonvtec.. hope that helps... any more sohc questions?

 

just get a swap...d15b...that costs 600$ shipped from HMO..thats the best d-series motor honda makes..

You can use the cam from a 88-91 CRX Si. You will either have to advance or retard the cam timing by one tooth to compensate for the deck height difference. I can tell you that I was very surprised when I added that cam to my D15. There was a significant difference between it and the stock cam.

you have to use the gear from the y7 or the y8... it is 4.25 degrees off

 

88-91 si would be the z6 right? so if i do get a z6 camshaft then i would have to use a y7/y8 cam gear?
